In this section, we will show you how to use eKey 2.0 as an authenticator for web pages, specifically for entities that do not have a dedicated application. For demonstration purposes, we will use the Bahrain.bh webpage.
- The user will be prompted to enter their national ID number and click “Continue.”
- Instructional steps will then appear, asking the user to:
- Open the eKey 2.0 app on their smartphone (Users will also get a push notification).
- When the user opens the eKey app, the camera will automatically activate to scan the QR code displayed on the Bahrain.bh webpage.
- Once the QR code is scanned, a “consent” screen will appear in the app, prompting the user to either approve or reject.
- After this, a message will appear on the webpage prompting the user to “Continue,” allowing them to successfully log in to Bahrain.bh.
- To simplify the login process in the future, the user can choose to “trust” the browser. Following this, a pop-up message will prompt the user to confirm whether they want to trust the device.
When the user chooses to "trust" the browser, the process will be easier the next time they use eKey, as some of the previous steps will be eliminated for quicker access.
- When the user opens the browser, their national ID number will be pre-filled. They simply need to select it, and a notification will be sent to the eKey app.
- The user must then provide consent using their device. Once consent is granted and the user performs the app security (pin code or biometrics), a confirmation page will appear, allowing them to log in successfully.
